Parents-In-Partnership

A school with an enthusiastic and involved Parent Body is a joy to the Staff, Students and parents alike. Erica Girls’ Primary is such a school! Each class, from PrePrimary to grade 7, is represented by Class Representatives, a parent per class, but often two or three sharing the workload.

The primary responsibility of these parents is to be a liaison between the Class Teacher and the fellow Parents of that class. They attend quarterly meetings with a representative group of our Teachers regarding Fund Raising events planned, feedback from regular school activities and an open forum of discussion of queries from our Families. Gaining an insight into the school running makes a devoted and supporting Parent Team.

Each Grade holds a Cake Sale during the year, and the Class Representatives encourage both baking of goodies and help with selling from the Parents in that Grade, making this an entrepreneurial event and fund raiser at the same time.
The cakes and treats are sold to the girls and the social interaction here is always much fun for all involved!

Our Hockey and Netball Derby Days, our Family Walk, our R2000 Draw, our Games Day and our Band and Choir evening performances also require parental involvement with the provision and sale of refreshments at school. Our Class Representatives are regularly in contact with fellow parents to assist where needed. This is another bonding opportunity that many Parents enjoy.

We are blessed throughout the year with the volunteering from parents that have time to help at school where needed. This could be in the Library covering and sorting books, in the office receiving and sorting extra-mural paperwork and monies, setting up displays or special events in the staffroom, assisting on the sports fields or transporting to sporting events, sourcing and providing prizes for our Games Day, liaising with prospective parents at our Open Day, and so on.

Our calendar year is always too short for all the creative interaction we experience at school, it certainly explains the warm ‘ERICA Family’ concept in a nutshell!
